Nathan Reiss is a resident of Highland Park and has been engaged in the study of genealogy for over 35 years. In 1980, he authored a book on his own family history, and has recently updated it with a new 1,100 page edition.
In 1997, he became Chairman of the Genealogy Committee of the Jewish Historical Society of Central Jersey; in 2002 he was elected Vice President and from 2003 to the present he has served as President of the Society. From 1996 to 2001 he also served as President of Congregation Etz Ahaim, a Sephardic congregation in Highland Park.
Dr. Reiss received a PhD. degree in Meteorology in 1973. From 1972 until his retirement in 1997, he was a professor in the Departments of Meteorology and Environmental Sciences at Rutgers University.
