Anshe Emeth's Madrichim program is the perfect opportunity for our high school students to give back to the Temple's religious school. The Hebrew term “Madrich” literally means “guide” or “leader,” and Madrichim, Madricha and Madrichot are the various forms. The shoresh (root) of Madrich is dalet, resh, chaf – pronounced derech- which means “path” or “journey.” With this in mind, we have the beginnings of the expectations for our Madrichim – to lead our students down the path of Jewish education, and to also follow this path as they gain many important skills.
Fulfilling the role of a Madrich(a) is both a calling and a job. As a calling, our Madrichim have many responsibilities to shape the lives and identities of the students with which they work. As a job, they perform these responsibilities with the understanding of a wage that is one of the many ways that Anshe Emeth shows its appreciation for all of the hard work of the Madrichim.
Some of the highlights of the program include:
- Attending Madrichim Orientation where the Madrichim learn some of the basics of working with children
- Participating in Development sessions that further teach important skills that allow the Madrichim to be successful. This tear's sessions are on the following topics:
- Working with small groups and individuals
- Working with Different Learning Styles
- Working with students with special needs
- How to effectively motivate children
- and More
- Seeing the benefits of their hard work every class period
- Working with the children grades Pre-K - 7th grade
