Curriculum

Anshe Emeth high-schoolers (8th-11th grade) have the unique opportunity to further their Jewish knowledge by learning at a more advanced level. Rabbi Miller, Rabbi Epstein, and our other teachers look forward to studying with our students. The first hour of the program will be a required class by grade level. The second hour of the program will be an elective class with mixed grade levels.

  • 8th Grade Required Class: Jewish Leadership with Adena Kemper
  • 9th Grade Required Class: Israel with Ze'ev Weisblatt and Lenny Haas
  • 10th/11th Grade Required Class:
    • First Semester – Hot Topics with Rabbi Bazeley
    • Second Semester – Sex in the Texts with Rabbi Miller and a psychologist from our temple

Senior Class

Each month our high school seniors have the opportunity to learn with Rabbi Miller. They gather at his home to share food and friendship, learning about and discussing issues that will confront them as they move on to college and adult life.

Wednesday Night Hebrew High

The new-and-improved Wednesday program is strongly encouraged for all students.
You can get High School elective credit and a scholarship to EIE in Israel!
And, it doesn’t cost a thing beyond the regular Sunday tuition (unless you want pizza).

Hebrew by Grade Level, 6:30-7:20pm Study Modern Hebrew grammar and vocabulary, and learn to read, write, and speak like an Israeli.   Prepare for life in Israel as an EIE student and/or Hebrew immersion at OSRUI Jewish summer camp in Wisconsin.   Or just come to learn Hebrew on a whole new level, unlocking doors to your spirituality and your ability to connect with Israel.

Hebrew Chavaya (Hebrew Experience), 7:40-8:30pm *NEW!*.  Continue your Hebrew learning together with the whole school – through film, websites and apps, game shows, cooking, music, drama, and more.  Socialize, have fun and make new friends as you experience Israeli youth culture and sharpen your conversational skills.  It’s Hebrew as you’ve never done it before.

Pizza Dinner between Hebrew session.

Either bring your own dinner, or for $75/semester, partake in a hot pizza dinner in class.

SAT Sundays

Anshe Emeth is proud to host SAT and SAT II testing for Jewish students on Sunday mornings (rather than on Saturdays, the day the tests are typically offered). We also provide testing for students with special needs. Every Jewish student has the right not to take these stress-laden exams on Shabbat. To register, simply use Anshe Emeth’s site number – 31930 – and get a permission letter from Rabbi Bazeley.

Opportunities

Opportunities

This brand new program for our 8th Graders allows a great opportunity to develop the many skills that Madrichim use on a regular basis in their classes.  Meeting just on Saturdays, our Machonikim take part in many Religious School activities inside and outside the classroom that help to not only grow their personal skills, but affect every child they encounter.
Anshe Emeth's Madrichim program is the perfect opportunity for our high school students to give back to the Temple's religious school.  The Hebrew term “Madrich” literally means “guide” or “leader,” and Madrichim, Madricha and Madrichot are the various forms. The shoresh (root) of Madrich is dalet, resh, chaf – pronounced derech- which means “path” or “journey.” With this in mind, we have the beginnings of the expectations for our Madrichim – to lead our students down the path of Jewish education, and to also follow this path as they gain many important skills.
