The music of synagogue worship has been moving in many different directions and has taken diverse forms in terms of musical styles and instruments used. Shabbat HaMa’alot, literally a “Shabbat of Ascents,” will explore a spiritual expression and enable our wonderful musicians to weave their unique instrumental sounds around and through the melodies. Our Ma’alot Band includes: Dave Schlossberg, keyboard; Mark Szachara, bass; Rick Pressler, guitar; and Mark Fuerstein, clarinet.
Saturday morning, 10:45 a.m.
Our entire Shabbat morning community – Religious School, all Adult Education classes – will gather in the Sanctuary to celebrate the joy of Shabbat morning together. It will feature uplifting music led by the Ma’alot band and all of our choirs.

Join us in our study of the weekly Torah portion. Each Shabbat morning for more than 30 years, Anshe Emeth members have gathered to study Torah and all that it offers us. This class provides an opportunity to explore the rich spiritual meanings and applications of Torah in our daily lives. No previous Hebrew is necessary; the prerequisite is only a desire to learn and grow. Newcomers are always welcome.

Tanach is the Jewish name for the book which others call the Bible. If you have been studying Torah (the first five books of Tanach) for a few years, this class will take you on to explore the books of history, prophecy, poetry, and prose which make up the rest of the Tanach. Historical context, traditional Jewish interpretations, and modern biblical scholarship will be included. We will be continuing our study with the books of Ezra and Nehemiah and the postexilic prophets. No knowledge of Hebrew is needed to participate in this class.
