The U.S. and Israel: Two Democracies and One Alliance

In recent years, democracy in both the United States and Israel has come under strain, and with it, their close friendship. In this talk, Ambassador Eisen will describe the assault on democracy in recent years in both nations, the dangers that it poses to the warm ties between the two, and how they can be renewed and expanded for the 21st century. Drawing upon his scholarship, he will explain how unlikely coalitions in both the U.S. and Israel are successfully pushing back on anti-democratic trends.
Ambassador Norman Eisen (ret.) is a Senior Fellow in Governance Studies at Brookings and a CNN legal analyst.
