Gender in the Text

Saturday, January 28, 2023
10:45 am - 11:45 am

Led by Student Rabbi Sienna Lotenberg

For millennia, Jews have grappled with the importance of gender and power, and how they interact with our obligations as Jews. Together, we will look at examples throughout the Jewish past where gender roles and ideologies were “challenging” – either to the authors of our sources or to us as readers (often both!), from the Torah to the Talmud to the twenty-first century. No background in Jewish text, Hebrew, history, or gender studies required – only excitement to interrogate assumptions and learn.
