Introduction to TaNaKh and Beyond

Saturday, May 20, 2023
9:30 am - 10:30 am

Led by Deborah Cohn
“TaNaKh” is the name which Jews traditionally use to refer to the Hebrew Bible. If you have been studying Torah (the first five books of TaNaKh) for a few years, this class will take you on a journey to explore the books of history, prophecy, poetry and prose which make up the rest of the TaNaKh. Historical context, traditional Jewish interpretations and modern biblical scholarship will be included.

This year, we will continue with the story of King David in the book of I Samuel. We will also supplement the TaNaKh selections with insights from Talmud and Midrash.

The class has no “pre-requisites” and a knowledge of Hebrew is not necessary.

This will be via Zoom.
