Activist and Writer, Betty Friedan and the Center of the Movement for Women’s Rights

Professor Shteir will discuss the achievements that put activist and writer, Betty Friedan at the center of the movement for women’s rights. Professor Shteir provides a detailed portrait of one of America’s most successful political activists and describes how Betty Friedman co-founded the National Organization for Women and many other women-centered organizations.

Professor Rachel Shteir is Associate Professor at the Theatre School at DePaul University. She has lectured widely on popular culture and theatre and is often quoted in the national media. She is the recipient of six Yaddo residencies as well as MacDowell and Ragdale Colony residencies.
