February 12: No Road Leading Back: A conversation with Chris Heath
Rabbi Miller asks this question of all of us: Have you been to Ponar? Have you even
heard of Ponar? Answer: I have been there, and have never been the same since!
Ponar was a place in the forest in Lithuania where more than 70,000 Jews were shot
and killed after the Nazi invasion of Eastern Europe. Anxious to hide what they did, the
Nazi enslaved a group of Jews to exhume every one of the bodies and incerate them all
in a months long labor. It is a story almost impossible to hear or witness and yet it is the
truth!
