Mary and Samuel Hamelsky Music Program with Guest Cantor Cohn
The third time is the charm as we welcome Cantor Richard Cohn. Since July 2015, Cantor Cohn has been the Director of the Debbie Friedman School of Sacred Music, Hebrew Union College-Jewish Institute of Religion, following 34 years of stellar service to Reform communities in the Chicago area and Dallas, Texas. As such, he is the gatekeeper to tomorrow’s leaders of synagogue music! After Bachelors and Masters degrees in Vocal Performance, his conducting expertise led him Kol Zimrah, the Jewish Community Singers of Greater Chicago, a group he founded and led for nine years. He has been a frequent principal conductor at the North American Jewish Choral Festival, led the URJ Biennial Choir in 2003, and has conducted HaZamir – the International Jewish High School Choir in concert at Lincoln Center.
