Gan Yeladeem Learning Center

The David H. Meyer Children’s Center

Our Philosophy

We provide a safe, nurturing and educational environment for children from six weeks through age 5. Our early education center is open year-round to accommodate parents seeking a Jewish child care and preschool experience for our youngest learners. Flexible scheduling includes half, full and extended day options.

We are committed to providing an enriching and nurturing environment based on progressive Jewish values and ideals where children develop a strong Jewish identity while receiving a high-quality, developmentally appropriate early education.  We are committed to ongoing staff development which enables us to understand each child and helps each child reach their full potential.  Through positive, strength-based approaches we help children develop confidence and high self-esteem. We strive to be models of inquiry and growth while supported by experienced and caring teachers, a community of educators and learners and our involved Rabbis and Cantor. The children at Gan Yeladeem Learning Center are encouraged to love learning, take risks and respect themselves, each other and the adults in their lives.

Creative Curriculum

  • The Creative Curriculum for Infants, Toddlers and Twos is a research-based approach that respects children as curious explorers who want to learn about the world around them.  Through interactions and activities, teachers work with students to build knowledge, gain confidence in themselves and their emerging skills, and develop a love of learning.
  • The Creative Curriculum for Preschool, a widely used and NJ Dept. of Education recommended curriculum, uses today’s research and understandings of children’s development to guide children through learning experiences.  Students participate in studies of topics from their real-world during which children use critical thinking skills to find answers to their own questions.  Teachers lead small group activities that focus on the support that each child needs to build skills.  Children also learn valuable social-emotional lessons as they play and as teachers have meaningful conversations that challenge their thinking.  We proudly provide a foundation for the years ahead as we foster the thinking, development and subject area skills that will last a lifetime.

Enrollment in all Gan programs is limited, as we seek to encourage a low student-teacher ratio in which every child and their family is known by all of our staff and valued, cared for and taught with respect and love.
